Find out why Carmans switched from its traditional process to a MARELEC portioning line



By introducing the intelligent portioning line within Carmans’ facility, MARELEC created a solution to keep pace with the company’s rising order intake, ensuring its growing legacy continues.


Under the motto "Your meat is our passion," Carmans E.&L. NV, based in Belgium, brings an extensive range of premium food, with a focus on meat, game meat and poultry, to the food services industry – all tailored to the customer’s needs.

Carmans’ premium meats were manually portioned but – due to the combination of increasing order volumes and a shortage of technically skilled butchers –, it became increasingly impossible to keep up with demand.

To supply the food service industry with steaks and cubes in the required weight range of 180g to 280g for the steaks and 20g for the cubes, Carmans invested in a complete portioning and grading line. In order to portion wide items such as untrimmed pork bellies and striploins from larger cattle breeds, MARELEC proposed the addition of 300mm-wide conveyors.



We had to introduce a new portioning solution in our facility due to the rise in demand for portioned steaks and the shortage of skilled butchers. The MARELEC portioning line was therefore the perfect match for us. MARELEC’s service also allows us to stay in close contact whenever we need reinforcements in a quick and efficient manner.
